On August 2nd 2025 SusAir welcomed representatives from VCAS Civil Aviation to its headquarters in Astana for the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement marks the beginning of a strategic partnership focused on long-term research and innovation in airport design and operational planning.
The MoU outlines a shared commitment to develop new approaches to airport infrastructure with particular emphasis on sustainability digital systems and adaptive design. The signing event also included a presentation of SusAir’s latest green airport concept which was recently showcased at the Chongqing Aviation Expo.
Building a Foundation for Airport Innovation
The partnership sets a research-driven framework that will enable:
- Joint development of design simulation tools
- Co-authored technical white papers
- Shared workshops on airport modularity and resilience
- Collaboration on scenario planning for Central Asian air hubs
Mr. Askar Zhaksylykov Chairman of SusAir stated:

First Steps
Initial activities under the MoU will begin in Q3 2025 including formation of working groups and exchange of research datasets. Both parties have agreed to maintain a non-commercial focus for the collaboration and prioritize open knowledge development in the early phases.
